summer dieting tip

With the official start of summer just around the corner, i’m sure your busy summer social calendar is already full of weekend camping trips, BBQs, and maybe even travel abroad. So how do you keep your diet on track? One strategy that I recommend for my patients is eating very “clean” (i.e. simple and light) during the week when you have more control over choices and allowing yourself a little, note the word LITTLE, more flexibility on weekends. For example, I will often designate monday and tuesday as my strict diet days during which I follow my program and may even try to cut back on the starch and fat even more than usual. That way, I can safely allow myself a shared dessert or extra glass of wine on the weekends. This helps prevent those feelings of deprivation when everyone else is biting into that delicious brownie or helps balance out weekend excursions where healthy food choices are not always easy to find. So don’t change your plans just to stay on your diet, build your diet into your plans.
